Lake Mead is the largest man-made lake in the country. It is located on the Colorado River about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas. The lake was formed from water impounded by the Hoover Dam. The lake extends for 110 miles behind the Dam. Access to the lake is from Interstate 15 through the Valley of Fire State Park and the Maopa River Indian Reservation.
Boating is the most popular activity on Lake Mead, but fishing is a close second.

Lake Mead
There are several marinas on the lake that rent boats.
Cruising by boat on the lake and observing the views provided by the surrounding cliffs and hills is a wonderful experience.
If you have the time, a nifty thing to do is to take a few days and rent a luxury houseboat. With a houseboat, you can cruise, swim or fish. The lake has many coves with rocky cliffs and sandy beaches to explore. There are also numerous small to medium-sized islands in the lake.
