More About Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift became one of country-pop's brightest (and youngest) faces in 2006, when the then 16-year-old vocalist released her first album. Although new to the American public, Swift had been performing since early childhood, taking inspiration and encouragement from her opera-singing grandmother. Taylor sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" before a Philadelphia 76ers game at the age of 11.

At the age of 12, she practiced on her guitar for several hours each day, only stopping when her fingers began to bleed.

Taylor's family recognized her talent and began taking trips to Nashville to shop her music around. After hearing her at The Bluebird Cafe, Scott Borchetta signed her to do an album. Soon she was famous.

At the 2009 American Music Awards Taylor won the entertainer of the year award. She was also named the favorite female pop/rock artist and her album "Fearless" won best country album.

In 2010, Taylor Swift became a multiple Grammy Award winner when she took home four awards from the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, including top honor, Album (Fearless) of The Year.
