Bobby Rydell is a former teen idol from the early 1960s era of rock and roll. At the age of 6 he was playing drums and by 16 he was playing in local bands in Philadelphia. For awhile he played in a band called Rocco and the Saints with Frankie Avalon.

Bobby got his first big break when he won first place on the amateur show of Paul Whitman. He went on to star in hit films such as “Bye Bye Birdie” and plays such as “West Side Story.”

Rydell also made countless network TV appearances throughout the world on shows like Ed Sullivan, Jack Benny, George Burns, Milton Berle, Perry Como and American Bandstand. He was also a semi regular on the Red Skelton Hour for many years.

The former teen idol, now a seasoned performer, continues to perform to sell out audiences throughout the world. One of his favorite tour stops is Atlantic City, which is close to Philadelphia, his home town, where they named a street after him.
