Lionel Richie is a singer, songwriter and record producer from Alabama.

Lionel released his self-titled debut album in 1982, which contained the hit single "Truly." That huge hit went to #1 in the U.S. and launched his career as one of the most successful male solo artists of the 1980's. The album hit #3 on the music charts and sold over 4 million copies. His 1983 follow-up album, "Can't Slow Down," sold over twice as many copies and won two Grammy Awards including Album Of The Year. Several more Top 10 hits followed, the most successful of which was the ballad "Hello" in 1984.

Richie's popularity was not limited to the U.S., as he went on to become extremely popular in Europe, especially in the UK. Since 2004, he has produced a total of six Top 40 singles in the UK. On December 9, 2006, Richie hosted and performed live on the British television show "An Audience with Lionel Richie."

In recent years, Richie has become a extremely popular in various Arab states, and has performed in Morocco, Dubai, Qatar and Libya.

Richie just completed a successful tour of Europe. He still tours extensively in the United States, and his tour stops include Atlantic City.
