A. R. Rahman is an Indian Tamil film composer, record producer, musician and singer. Rahman is an award winning writer of music for Indian Films.

In 1992 A.R. won the Rajat Kamal award for Best Music Director at the Indian National Film Awards for composing the score and soundtrack for the Tamil film, Roja.
He won the same award three more times for scores on the Iindian films, Minsaara Kanavu, Lagaan and Kannathil Muthamittal. Since 1992 Rahman has produced music for nearly 50 films. He has sold more than 150 million records of his film scores and soundtracks, worldwide.

In 2000, Andrew Lloyd Webber selected Rahman to compose the music for his Bombay Dreams, a musical based on the Bollywood film industry. The musical played in London and in New York on Broadway.

More recently Rahman achieved worldwide fame as the composer on the Oscar Winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. Rahaman won two Oscars and and two Grammy's for his work on the Slumdog movie, one for Best Original Score and one for Best Song.

In the last six years, Rahman has made three successful world tours presenting concerts that feature his music. He continues to tour and his tour stops include Atlantic City.
