Profile

Pink Martini

Pink Martini is a 12-member orchestra from Portland, Oregon. It was formed in 1994 by pianist Thomas M. Lauderdale. The band plays a wide range of music, including classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop.

The band has twelve musicians, but sometimes travels with additional string sections. It performs its multilingual repertoire on concert stages and with symphony orchestras throughout the world.

Their debut album "Sympathique" was released 1997 and became an international hit. The band released "Hang On Little Tomato" in 2004 and "Hey Eugene!" in 2007. All three albums went gone gold in France, Canada, Greece and Turkey, and have sold more than 2 million copies. Their most recent album, "Splendor in the Grass," was released in 2009.

Pink Martini made its European live stage debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and its orchestral debut with the Oregon Symphony in 1998 under the direction of Norman Leyden. Since then, the band has gone on to play with over 25 orchestras around the globe. The band often performs in Atlantic City.
