
B.J. Novak is an actor, stand-up comedian, and screenwriter. He appears as Ryan Howard on the NBC sitcom "The Office," and is a writer and co-executive producer for the Emmy Award-winning show.
Novak got his start in comedy while in college, writing for "The Harvard Lampoon."
After graduating from Harvard in 2001, Novak moved to Los Angeles and began working clubs as a comedian. He soon became a fixture at Los Angeles comedy clubs such as "The Improv," and was named one of Variety's "Ten Comedians To Watch" in 2003.
After hearing Novak's opening joke at one of the comedy clubs, executive producer Greg Daniels decided to include Novak in his upcoming project: a U.S. version of the hit British series "The Office." Novak was cast as "Ryan Howard," becoming the first cast member.
B.J. Novak also performs as a stand up comedian at venues around the country, including Atlantic City.
