
Metallica is a heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, that became the 7th biggest selling act in American history.
The metallica band formed in 1981. Their first album was "Kill "Em All," released in 1983. However their popularity took a quantum leap in 1986 with the release of their third album, "Master of Puppets," which was certified gold and spent 72 weeks on the charts. "Master of Puppets" has been described as one of the most influential and "heavy" thrash metal albums.
Their fifth album, "The Black Album," included music that appealed to a more mainstream audience. It reached number one on the billboard 200 charts.
The band has released nine studio albums and three live albums. They have sold over 100 million recordings worldwide.
The present Metallica band consists of founding members Lars Ulrich (Drums) and James Hetfield (Guitarist), along with Kirk Hammett (Lead Guitar) and Robert Trujillo (Bassist).
Metallica is still recording music and touring, and their tour stops include Atlantic City.
