Profile

Sarah McLauchlan

Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian guitarist, singer and songwriter from Nova Scotia. She is known for her emotional ballads and strong, clear voice and vocal range.

Sarah's 1993 album "Fumbling Towards Ecstacy" became a huge hit in Canada. It also placed high on the charts in many other countries. In 1997, on the basis of her album "Surfacing," she won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Her Surfacing album has sold more than 11 million copies and brought Sarah international attention and acclaim. A later album "Afterglow," that included the singles "Fallen," "Stpid" and "World on Fire," went double-platinum. Over the years she has won three Gammy Awards and four Juno Awards.

Also in 1997, McLauclan founded the Lilith Fair Musical Festival, that showcased the advances of women in music.

In 2010 Sarah released her latest album, "Laws of Illusion" in which many of the songs were inspired by her life experience of a failed marriage and subsequent rebounding, achievment of independence, and new love. “Loving You Is Easy,” the first single from the album, is an upbeat, almost jaunty piano–based song, with a musical atmosphere perfectly matched to lyrics that describe the heady thrill of new love.

Sarah is now back on the concert tour and headlining on stage. Her tour stops include Atlantic City.
