
The Dave Matthews band is a jam band from Virginia that started in 1991. The band draws huge numbers of fans at its live concerts, which are usually sellouts. The band has sold nearly 40 million albums worldwide.
The band developed a dedicated fan base playing on the college circuit. They released their
albums "Under the Table and Dreaming" in 1994 and "Crash" in 1996, which won them audiences all over the U.S. as
well
as overseas.
The band's most recent album, "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King" was released in 2009. It went to number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and went on to achieve platinum status. The album was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2010.
Dave Matthew is the guitarist and song writer. Other members of the band are drummer Carter Beauford, bassist Stefan Lessard, saxophonest Jeff Coffin and violinist Boyd Tinsley.
The band is known for their annual summer-long tours of the US and Europe, featuring lengthy improvisational renditions of their songs, accompanied by an elaborate video and lighting show. The band plays a mix of rock, classical jazz, bluegrass and soul.

In June, of 2011, The Dave Matthew Band put on a major concert at Bader field in Atlantic City, called The Dave Matthews Band Caravan. This was a three day concert covering the 24th, 25th and 26th of June.
About 25,000 visitors attended the concert each of the 3 days.
Each day of the concert, the Dave Matthews Band closed the show, following sets by numerous other bands and performers.
