Jay Leno is a stand-up comedian, television host and writer. Leno's comedic style is chiefly observational, with story telling and topical humor often mixed into his routine.
He succeeded Johnny Carson
as host of
"The Tonight Show" in 1992. Leno hosted that show for 17 years, until Friday,
May 29 2008, when Conan O'Brien took over the show. The following Saturday night,
Jay performed at the Borgata in Atlantic City.
In Feb. 2010, Jay got back his job as
host of "The Tonight Show."
Jay says he loves coming to Atlantic City, "its like coming to my cousin's wedding. There are a lot of Italian and and Jewish people, a different crowd than you get in Los Angeles." Jay says he grew up with those kind of people.
Jay claims that, like most comedians including Bob Hope before him, he loves to work, and will probably always be on the road going from gig-to-gig. To make travel easier, Jay now flies in private jets.
Leno tries out new jokes at the Comedy & Magic Club in Los Angeles, where he has performed every Sunday for the last 30 years.

Jay Leno claims that he saved all of his income from "The Tonight Show" and lived solely off his income from stand-up comedy, which he continued to do even while hosting "The Tonight Show."
However, some of Jay's earnings go toward his exotic and antique car and motorcycle collection. The collection spans 100 years of automotive history. The oldest cars are a 1906 Baker electric car and a 1906 Stanley Steamer, while the newest is a 2006 Corvette. The collection also has a number of rare cars, such as a Monteverde, a Bugatti Atlantic, and a turbine motorcycle.
Jay doesn't just look at his cars, he drives them. He is often seen tooling around Burbank in one of his machines. His cars are housed in a large, well-equipped garage and are maintained in perfect running order by a team of expert mechanics.

One of his favorite cars is the Jaguar XK-E shown. This Jaguar has a 5.3 liter V12 engine that generates 272 hp.
Perhaps the most special car in his collection is a 1955 Buick. Not only is it the first car Jay purchased, it was the car he came to California in. On top of that, it was also his apartment on wheels. As a struggling comic in Los Angeles, Jay often slept in the car in alleyways next to comedy clubs. He never sold the car and, like all the other cars in his collection, he takes it out for a spin from time to time.
Jay also likes to cook. His garage has a gourmet kitchen, where Jay shows off his culinary skills for his staff and other visitors.
