
Adam Lambert was the runner-up in the eighth season competition of the American Idol television program in 2009. Adam Lambert is openly gay.
Prior to competing in Idol, Lambert had performed in various theater productions. He performed alongside Val Kilmer in Ten Commandments: The Musical and was under study in a touring production of Wicked. Lambert is recognized for his dramatic tenor voice.
Lambert released his debut album, "For Your Entertainment," in November 2009. The album sold 198,000 copies in the first week and reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 list.
Since the American Idol show, Lambert has won two awards: the Young Hollywood Award for Artist of the Year and the Teen Choice Award for Reality/Variety Star.
In 2009 Lambert participated in the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2009 with his fellow Top 10 contestants. The tour visited 50 cities in the United States and Canada. Starting in 2010 Lambert will be touring on his own. His tour stops include Atlantic City.
