Shawn Carter is a Rap artist better known by his stage name, "Jay-Z." Shawn grew up in a tough Brooklyn neighborhood where he became known for his rap skills and was known by the name "Jazzy," which he later shortened to "Jay-Z." He went on to become one of the most popular and financially successful hip-hop artists in the world.

Jay-Z's first album "Reasonable Doubt" became a success, but his third album, "Vol.2: Hard Knock Life" was an even bigger success, selling over 8 million copies, and establishing him as a star in the entertainment industry.

During the 1990's, Jay-Z toured heavily around the world and his fame spread globally. In 2000 he issued another hit album, "The Dynasty."

Jay-Z established his own record label,
Roc-a-Fella Records, to cut out the middle man and to enable him to increase his earnings. Other artists joined his new Roc-a-Fella Label, including Kanye West, Beanie Sigel and Jadakiss.

In 2006, Jay released his "Kingdom Come" album which sold 2 million copies in the U.S. alone. In 2009, JAY-Z released his latest #1 album, Blueprint 3 (Roc Nation. Jay-Z continues to maintain a busy schedule, touring stadiums, arenas, casinos and festivals around the world. His tour stops include Atlantic City.
