
"American Idol: The Search for a Superstar" is a reality competition to find new solo musical talent. It debuted on June 11, 2002, and has since become one of the most popular shows on American television.
Every year, tens of thousands of hopefuls from across the nation audition for a shot at stardom. The show's judges – Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres winnow down the competitors to a select group of semifinalists. This lucky group sings their hearts out each week for final voting by the studio audience and television viewers.
The winner for 2010 was Lee DeWyze. The top 10 finalists were: Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynch, Siobhan Magnus, Katie Stevens, and Tim Urban. In 2010 this group will take a fifty-city tour to exhibit their talents.
