Ray Davies is a rock musician who was the lead siger and songwriter of the British rock band, The Kinks.
The Kinks were an English rock band formed in London, by brothers Ray and Dave Davies in 1964. The Kinks were considered one of the most vital and influential bands of the era. Their music included rhythm and blues, folk, and country. The Kinks broke up in the mid 90's, and since then Ray Davis has been pursuing a solo career.
Aside from a lengthy Kinks discography, Davies has released five solo albums; the 1985 release Return to Waterloo (which accompanied a television film he wrote and directed), the 1998 release The Storyteller, Other People's Lives in early 2006, Working Man's Café in October 2007 and The Kinks Choral Collection in June 2009. Other People's Lives was his first top 40 album in the UK since the 1960s, when he worked with the Kinks.
In 2003 Ray played in front of millions worldwide at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. In 2004 Davies was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II, for "services to music." In 2005, The Kinks were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame.
Ray Davies is a busy traveler, perfoming his music throughout much of the world, including Atlantic City.
