Profile

Natalie Cole

Natalie Cole is a popular singer and songwriter. She is the daughter of singer and musician Nat King Cole, and the former Duke Ellington Orchestra singer Maria Hawkins Ellington. Although Maria had sung with Duke Ellington's band, she was not related to Duke Ellington. At the age of six, Natalie sang on her Father's Christmas album and later began performing at age 11.

Natalie’s most successful album, "Unforgettable…With Love" which came out in 1991, is a jazz collection that set a new standard for reinventing the Great American Songbook. The album captured six Grammys, including Album and Record Of The Year, and sold more than eight million copies in the U.S. alone.

Cole went on to release several more hit Jazz CD's. These included "Take A Look"
and "Stardust," both of which won Grammys. Her latest album "Still Unforgettable" was released in September, 2008 and included a virtual duet with her father of his 1951 hit "Walkin' My Baby Back Home."

Cole has also developed a second career in acting, and has appeared in several successful TV shows and films.

Natalie's live performances can be seen at venues throughout the country, including Atlantic City.

Nat King Cole - Profile

Nat King Cole

Nathaniel Adams Coles, known professionally as Nat "King" Cole, was an American musician who first came to prominence as a leading jazz pianist. Although an accomplished pianist, he owes most of his popular musical fame to his soft baritone voice, which he used to perform in big band and jazz genres. He was one of the first black Americans to host a television variety show, and has maintained worldwide popularity since his death; he is widely considered one of the most important musical personalities in United States history.

Cole began his performing career in the mid 1930s while still a teenager, adopting the name "Nat Cole". He acquired his nickname "King" performing at a jazz club, a nickname presumably reinforced by the otherwise unrelated nursery rhyme about "Ole King Cole."
