Chicago is a rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The band started out calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority, and their debut hit album, which went platinum, had the same name. However they later shortened the band's name to Chicago. The band plays a variety of music including jazz, pop, disco and classical, which appeals to a broad range of fans.

Their second album "Chicago II" was also a huge success. It included two top ten hit singles, these being "Make Mr Smile" and the ballad "Colour My World". The band had many more hits during the 70's and 80's, with only the Beach Boys being more popular during that era. Most of their albums were named Chicago, followed by a Roman numeral, indicating their sequence of release. "Chicago 17" became their biggest selling album, producing two more top ten singles, "You're the Inspiration" and "Hard Habit to Break."

During the 40 years of their existence the group has had numerous personnel changes, however Chicago still draws crowds wherever they play around the country. They often perform in Atlantic City.
