Cheap Trick is a rock band formed in 1974. The band blends elements of pop, punk and even metal in a way that is instantly catchy and recognizable.
Their biggest hits include "Surrender," "I Want You to Want Me," "Dream Police,"
and "The Flame."
Their music has similarities to The Beatles
but is faster and more powerful. In September of 2009, Cheap Trick performed
the classic Beatles' album, "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts
Club Band," complete with an orchestra and guest artists Joan Osborne and Ian Ball for nine critically-acclaimed shows
in Las Vegas. They have toured extensively abroad. None of Cheap Trick's first three albums made it into the Top 40
on charts in the U.S. However, in Japan all three of those first albums went gold. When the group toured in Japan
for the first time, in 1978, they were met with a frenzy reminiscent of Beatlemania. They have been referred to in the Japanese
press as the "American Beatles." While there, Cheap Trick recorded
a live album for their Japanese fans: "Cheap Trick at Budokan." Once the album was released, it became popular as
an import into the U.S. With demand for the album so great, Epic Records released the album in the U.S.
As of 2010, Cheap Trick continues to tour with the original band members, which consist of Robin Zander (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar, backing vocals), Tom Petersson (electric bass, backing vocals), and Bun E. Carlos (drums, percussion). Their tour schedule includes Atlantic City.
