Mariah Carey is a singer, songwriter, and actress. Her critically acclaimed Grammy-winning first album, "Mariah Carey" was released in 1990 and reached No.1 on the Billboard charts.

Subsequent recordings of Carey include "Emotions," "Music Box", "Merry Christmas," "Butterfly," and another Grammy Award-winner, "Daydream."

Carey has sold more than 200 million albums, singles and videos worldwide. She was named the best-selling female pop artist of the millennium at the 2000 World Music Awards.

After taking a break she returned to favour with her recording "The Emancipation of Mimi" in 2005. The album was warmly received and was her best-seller in 10 years. Mariah is working on a remix of her album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," which is expected to be released in 2010.

Mariah is known for her powerful and wide ranging singing voice. Love is the subject of most of Carey's lyrics. Her performances make extensive use of electronic instruments such as drum machines, keyboards and synthesizers. However many of her songs are accompanied by piano music.

When not recording, Mariah Carey spends much of her time on tour. Her tour schedule includes Atlantic City.
