Jeff Beck is a rock guitarist and songwriter from England. Jeff is credited with helping to redefine the sound and role of the electric guitar in rock music. Rolling Stone magazine described him as one of the most influential guitarist in rock, placing him number 14 on their list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."
Beck got his start in rock music in 1965 when he replaced Eric Clapton as the guitarist of the Yardbirds. It was while he was with the Yardbirds that the band recorded most of their top hit songs. Jeff was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Yardbirds.
The Yardbirds broke up in 1969, but Jeff
went on to have a stellar but varied career. He tended to
avoided the spot light and often disappeared to attend to his favorite past time, restoring cars.
Jeff formed a band called the Jeff Beck Group, but its membership often changed and he is mostly known for his solo performances. He often appeared and played with other guitar greats, including B.B. King and Eric Clapton.
Jeff's most recent album, Emotion & Commotion, was released in 2010. Also in 2010, Jeff kicked off a U.S. and World tour with a brand new touring band, that includes the Grammy award winning producer and songwriter, Narada Michael Walden on drums, Rhonda Smith on bass and Jason Rebello on keyboards. His tour stops include Atlantic City.
