B.B. King and Lucille
B.B. King is a famous and respected blues singer, song-writer and guitarist. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him as the #3 greatest guitar players of all time.
King plays Gibson guitars all of which he names "Lucille." Over the years, B.B. has developed one of the world's most identifiable guitar styles. He borrowed from Blind Lemon Jefferson, T-Bone Walker and other early blues musicians, integrating his own precise and complex string bends along with his signature left hand vibrato. His personal style has been imitated so often that it has become part of almost every guitarist's style. Almost every guitarist alive wants to learn how to play B.B. King's string bends and vibrato. His economy of picking, his perfection of every-note-counts phrasing, has influenced innumerable guitarists who have come after King, from Eric Clapton and George Harrison to Jeff Beck and others.
Since he started recording in the 1940s, he has released over fifty albums, many of them classics including: "I Like to Live the Love," "Thrill Is Gone," My Sweet Little Angel," "Everyday I Have The Blues," "Why I Sing The Blues" and "To Know You is to Love You."
Time has no apparent effect on B.B. King, who is now in his 80's, other than to make him more popular, more cherished and more relevant than ever. He is still going strong! B.B. continues to tour and play his guitar all around the world. His tour stops include Atlantic City.
