Frankie Avalon

Frankie Avalon is a former teen idol, singer, musician and actor from 1960s era of Rock and Roll. At the age of 12 he was appearing on TV playing the trumpet. As a teenager he played in a local band called Rocco and the Saints with Bobby Rydell in Philadelphia.

Avalon became a regular on the American Bandstand show and became good friends with Dick Clark. He got his first big break when he appeared on the Jackie Gleason TV show. During the late 50's and early 60s, Avalon recorded a number of hit records with "Venus" being the most successful.

He went on to star in hit films such as
“Bye Bye Birdie” and plays such as
“West Side Story." Frankie is probably best known for the series of films he appeared in with Annette Funicello, the first one being Beach Party. These films, most featuring sandy beaches, surfing and bikinis were a big hit with the teenage crowd.

Avalon is still a popular nightclub performer. He often makes apperances along the casino concert circuit, with Atlantic City being one of his favorite stops.
