Adele (Laurie Blue Adkins) is an English singer-songwriter from South London. Adele was named the number-one predicted breakthrough act of 2008 in an annual BBC poll of music critics. At the 2009 Grammy Awards, Adele won the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Her debut album "19" received much recognition both commercially and critically. The album debuted at number
one, and has been certified four times platinum in the UK. Adele released her second album "21" in January of 2011. It has been the biggest-selling album of 2011, moving 2.5 million copies by mid-year. Her single from the album "Rolling into the Deep" has sold 4 million copies.

She has described her musical style as "heartbroken soul." Her music was described by the Richmond Times-Dispatch music critic as "a perfect backdrop to a lazy afternoon in the coffee shop." On July 7, 2011 Adele was featured in an article in USA TODAY.

In 2012 Adele won 6 Grammy's including album of the year for her album "21," and song of the year for "Rolling in the Deep."

Adele's plans include an active tour schedule. Her North American tour stops include Atlantic City.
